Garment Care
Garment Care
Linen rewards patience.
Our linen and cotton pieces are woven to age beautifully when looked after. A few minutes of care now means decades of wear.
Washing
• Hand wash separately in cold water for the first two washes.
• After that, machine wash on a gentle / delicate cycle (max 30°C) with similar colours.
• Use a mild, neutral detergent. Avoid optical brighteners and chlorine bleach — they accelerate fading.
• Turn the garment inside out before washing to protect the weave.
Drying
• Do not tumble dry. The heat shortens linen fibres and warps the fit.
• Dry flat in shade. Direct sun fades indigo, madder and natural dyes.
• Smooth the seams while damp to keep the shape true.
Ironing
• Iron while still slightly damp — linen prefers moisture.
• Use a medium-hot iron (linen / cotton setting) on the reverse side.
• A creased linen shirt is a feature, not a flaw — feel free to embrace it.
Storing
• Hang shirts and kurtas; folded linen tends to develop sharp creases.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to preserve the natural dyes.
• For long storage, slip a sachet of vetiver or sandalwood among the folds.
A stain?
• Blot — never rub.
• Reach for cold water and a mild detergent within an hour.
• Stubborn stains? Email asvasaclothing@gmail.com — we'll guide you, piece by piece.
